Gesto musicale e performance

Abstract

In questo contributo il concetto di gesto in musica viene esplorato dal punto di vista di una teoria della performance che gli assegni un ruolo preminente nella composizione del messaggio musicale. In una interpretazione esecutiva, che nel caso della musica resta l'unica ermeneutica per accedere al testo, il gesto avrà la funzione di coordinare un coerente messaggio olistico e, pertanto, collegare compositore, esecutore e interprete grazie al ricorso a comuni schemi e pattern. È così ricuperata in un senso più ampio la metafora linguistica della musica, fuori da ogni rigido approccio strutturalista e verso una lettura multimodale.

Musical Gesture and Performance
This paper explores the concept of gesture in music from the point of view of a theory of performance, which gives it a prominent role in the composition of the musical message. In a performative interpretation, the only hermeneutic access to the musical text, gesture coordinates a holistic and coherent message and, therefore, it connects the composer, the performer and the interpreter, through the use of common patterns and schemata. The linguistic metaphor of music is thus recovered in a broader sense, far from any strict structuralist approach and leading to a multimodal reading of the musical message.
