Author Biography

Gabriele Marino, University of Turin

Gabriele Marino is a semiotician and works as a researcher at the University of Turin, Italy, where he teaches Semiotics of Music and Semiotics of Advertising. He has authored approximately ninety scholarly publications, including two monographs: "Britney canta Manson e altri capolavori" (Crac, 2011), which explores music criticism, and "Frammenti di un disco incantato" (Aracne, 2020), focused on phonography and musical genres. Since 2021, he has served as Secretary of the Italian Association for Semiotic Studies, and since 2023, as Secretary of the Italian branch of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music. Together with Bruno Surace, he launched the web series #semioboomer on the social media channels of the journal "Lexia" (80 episodes, 2020-2022), and co-edited "TikTok. Capire le dinamiche della comunicazione ipersocial" (Hoepli, 2023), the first Italian academic volume on the subject.
