The following article aims at reconstructing the evolution of Gianni Vattimo's aesthetic thought, starting from the elaboration of an ontology of the work of art to showing the developments of his reflection that reach the theorization of a “weak” aesthetics that has a certain focus on spatiality. This leads to the very rethinking of art as the creation and configuration of places, which become multiple fragments of relational space within our hyperindustrial and technological society. The production of these spaces revives a new sense of community that allows us to grasp and rediscover the relevance of Vattimo's thought in relation to developments in contemporary art, urban art and other disciplines, such as architecture and urban planning.
